SaaS & Salesforce Intelligence Digest

Salesforce’s best trading day in six years — stock +22.6% on August 27 after an 80% EPS beat, a $200M guidance raise, and the Claudeforce partnership with Anthropic · Agentforce ARR crosses $1.5B (+240% Y/Y) as combined AI ARR nears $3.9B · Benioff declares the “SaaSpocalypse” over after ServiceNow posts its own blowout quarter

▶ So What — Three Takeaways This Week

1. Four Weeks of Target Hikes Were Right — the Print Broke the Stalemate Decisively

Salesforce reported Q2 FY27 revenue of $11.35 billion (+10.8% Y/Y) and adjusted EPS of $5.90 against a $3.27 consensus — an 80% beat — alongside RPO of $33.5 billion, up 14% and the strongest net-new bookings quarter in four years. The stock closed August 27 up 22.6%, its best single-session gain in six years, moving from roughly $209 to $252 and adding tens of billions in market value in one day. Management also raised full-year revenue guidance by $200 million to $46.1–$46.4 billion. The August 13–20 run of target hikes from JPMorgan, BMO, Citi and UBS wasn’t analysts getting ahead of the story — it was the story arriving late.

2. Claudeforce Answers the Question Headless 360 Was Hedging Against

Announced alongside earnings on August 26, Claudeforce runs the integration both directions: Claude becomes a reasoning layer operating inside Salesforce with governed access to CRM data and workflows, and Salesforce becomes a plugin inside Claude — 37 prebuilt sales skills letting reps and agents act on live revenue context from within Claude itself, with further integration into Agentforce and Slack to follow. Two weeks ago, Headless 360’s bet was that Salesforce could stay the system of record even if the agent doing the work belonged to someone else. Claudeforce turns that hedge into the headline partnership, with Anthropic’s technology named the default reasoning model rather than one option among many — and Salesforce’s existing equity stake in Anthropic booked a $2.6 billion gain in the same quarter.

3. “This Nonsense of the SaaSpocalypse” — Benioff Gets Backup From ServiceNow’s Own Quarter

Benioff’s dismissal of AI-cannibalization fears landed the same week ServiceNow posted 24% revenue growth, AI annual contract value above $1 billion, and RPO of $13.2 billion, up 21% — agentic deployments there are up ninefold in nine months. Paired with Salesforce’s own $1.5 billion Agentforce ARR (+240% Y/Y), the pattern across both platforms is AI expanding what customers buy, not replacing the software they already run on. It doesn’t settle the AWU-pricing or margin questions long term, but it is the first quarter of hard numbers pushing back on the sector-wide disruption narrative that has weighed on multiples since spring.

Record Q2 FY27: Revenue $11.35B, EPS Beats by 80%, Strongest Bookings Quarter in Four Years

Salesforce delivered Q2 FY27 revenue of $11.35 billion, up 10.8% year over year and modestly ahead of the $11.33 billion Street estimate, while adjusted EPS of $5.90 blew past the $3.27 consensus. Current RPO grew 14% in constant currency to $33.5 billion — CFO Robin Washington called it the strongest quarter for net new annual order value in four years. Management raised full-year FY27 revenue guidance by $200 million to $46.1–$46.4 billion and lifted EPS guidance to $16.67–$16.71, giving the sell side its first genuinely new data point since the print of May.

Claudeforce: Claude Becomes a Reasoning Layer Inside Salesforce, Salesforce Becomes a Plugin Inside Claude

The expanded Anthropic partnership ships in both directions at once. Inside Salesforce, Claude operates as a governed reasoning model with access to trusted business data and workflows; inside Claude, Salesforce ships as a plugin with 37 prebuilt sales skills that let sellers and agents reason over live revenue context, automate pipeline updates, and take governed action without leaving the Claude interface. The companies also confirmed deeper Claude integration into Agentforce and Slack, with more cross-platform features planned. Salesforce separately disclosed a $2.6 billion mark-to-market gain on its existing Anthropic equity stake this quarter.

Six Analysts Raise Targets Post-Print — Morgan Stanley’s Jumps $50, Still Only to Equal-Weight

The earnings beat and Claudeforce news triggered a wave of same-week target increases: Truist to $300 from $280 (Buy), Wells Fargo to $230 from $205 (Equal-Weight), UBS to $240 from $210 (Neutral), Raymond James to $310 from $290, Deutsche Bank to $275 (Buy), and Morgan Stanley to $235 from $185 — a $50 jump that still leaves the firm at Equal-Weight, citing improving customer retention and record net-new order value but unresolved questions on organic growth durability. Even the more cautious moves (Northland Securities initiating Hold at $253) now sit above where CRM traded for most of August, underscoring how far the stock had lagged the fundamentals it just delivered.

Agentforce ARR Crosses $1.5 Billion, Up 240% Y/Y; Combined AI ARR Nears $3.9 Billion

Agentforce annual recurring revenue surpassed $1.5 billion this quarter, a 240% year-over-year increase, while combined Agentforce-and-Data-360 ARR climbed to nearly $3.9 billion — up more than 210%. Two weeks ago this digest flagged Agentforce’s $1 billion ARR crossing as “the clearest revenue proof point yet” for the AI narrative bulls were underwriting; the follow-through confirms the growth is still compounding, not plateauing, going into Dreamforce season.

Agentic Enterprise Index: Businesses Now Run 13 Agents on Average, Up From 5 Eighteen Months Ago

Salesforce’s second Agentic Enterprise Index, drawn from aggregated Agentforce usage data across thousands of businesses, found the average customer now runs 13 agents, up from 5 in February 2025, with deployment time down 53% and agent-driven retail sales growing 4x. The index is a usage-based counterpoint to ARR figures — it says customers aren’t just paying more, they’re operationally leaning on agents more heavily and faster than a year ago, which is the retention argument behind this week’s target hikes.

Note: The Q2 FY27 print triggered a wave of target increases — Raymond James ($310), Truist ($300), Deutsche Bank ($275), Monness Crespi Hardt ($266) and Northland Securities (initiating Hold at $253) on August 27, followed by Morgan Stanley ($235, a $50 jump), Wells Fargo ($230) and UBS ($240) on August 28. CRM closed around $256 — up 75% from its June 26 low of $146.32 — and now trades above several of the more cautious targets set earlier this month (Citigroup $204, Bernstein $194). The bull/bear split has narrowed sharply: even skeptical firms are now clustering in the $230–$253 band rather than well below the stock, and Bank of America’s $160 Underperform, unchanged since May, is increasingly the outlier.

▼ Peer Radar

Aug 27, 2026 · 24/7 Wall St. · Tier 1
ServiceNow +25% on Its Own Blowout: 24% Revenue Growth, AI ACV Past $1 Billion

ServiceNow shares climbed 25.1% as Q2 revenue grew 24% to $3.99 billion, AI annual contract value crossed $1 billion, and RPO reached $13.2 billion, up 21%; agentic deployments across its customer base are up ninefold over nine months. Running in parallel to Salesforce’s own print, the results are the clearest evidence yet that this earnings season is a referendum on the “AI eats SaaS” thesis — and the referendum went against the bears at both companies simultaneously.

HubSpot Beats by 28% on EPS as Peer Group Enters Earnings Season Strong

HubSpot reported Q2 EPS of $3.26 against a $2.55 estimate, a 27.8% beat, extending the pattern set by ServiceNow and Salesforce this cycle: enterprise SaaS names with genuine AI product attach are outperforming expectations broadly, not just at the AI infrastructure layer. Workday remains the conspicuous laggard of the peer group, still trading well off its highs even after August buyout speculation.

▼ Macro Signals

Aug 2026 · TIKR · Tier 2
The Guidance Raise, Not the Beat, Is What Should Anchor Expectations Into Q3

Analysts flagged that Salesforce’s $200 million full-year guidance raise — modest relative to the size of the EPS beat — is arguably the more durable signal than the one-time print, since guidance reflects management’s read on the next two quarters rather than a single period’s results. Q3 FY27 guidance of $11.42–$11.50 billion revenue and $3.42–$3.44 EPS is the next checkpoint that will show whether this week’s re-rating holds or was a one-quarter relief spike.

Aug 2026 · Gartner · Tier 4
Gartner Holds at +14.7% Enterprise Software Spend, 40% of Apps Carrying Agents by Year-End

Gartner’s 2026 forecast is unchanged from last edition: enterprise software spending up 14.7% to more than $1.4 trillion, with 40% of enterprise applications expected to carry task-specific AI agents by year-end, up from under 5% a year ago. The SaaS market itself is tracking toward roughly $465 billion for the year. This week’s Salesforce and ServiceNow results are the first hard confirmation that the demand Gartner has been forecasting is actually converting into bookings, not just spending intentions.
